Bob Marley once said: “One good thing about music, is when it hits… you feel no pain”. Well, the original “Breaking The Illusion” by Dan & Sam and a remixed version by Shingo Nakamura are both two songs that hit just right. Dan Sieg from the United States & Sam Wilkinson from Australia met for the second time at Las Vegas’ 2012 EDC Festival. They both found themselves in the same situation full of talent, experience, and plenty of recorded songs, but they were still unsigned to a major label. So what was next for the two? Join forces? That’s what happened.
Like Batman and Robin, Dan & Sam described themselves as a ying and yang combination. After discovering their combined power, Silk Music and Dangerbox Recording brought Dan and Sam on as… welll, Dan & Sam. “Breaking The Illusion” debuted on Beatport and was chosen as a top Beatport Staff Pick. Since that nudge, the song then ascended to number two on the “Trance Top 100 Release” chart. Lesson here: “Your powers combined…”
