Only in New York is it kosher to gorge your face with turkey, mashed potatoes, ham and maybe a little red wine, then head right to the club. That’s what we did this year… and not afraid to admit it. Except one part: Pacha. This club, excuse me, sweat-box designed for the opposite sexes to mingle (if you will) is a tough place to actively see a show. But what the hell, when Super8 & Tab, Tritonal and Paul van Dyk are in the city, you’re going to go. So that’s what the kids did – we went full of turkey and all.
Miika Eloranta (Super8) and Janne Mansnerus (Tab) were first up on the knob. Based out of Finland the two are signed to Anjunabeats and warmed up the crowed with some of their classics and moved into a progressive set entertaining an engaged audience full of energy. Right around 1:00am the legend Paul van Dyk descended upon the eager crowd to drop some German goodness. Dyk or Matthias Paul, is renown for being the only DJ to hold a spot in the World’s Top 10 Djs since 1998. Dyk’s set read like a classic novel; full of new sound, with old school style. After almost three flawless hours, the seasoned DJ had the house moving and long-loyal fans satisfied. After an amusing interruption by a sound technician, the Texan duo Tritonal took to the stage. Chad Cisneros and Dave Reed proceeded to rally the crowd once more for another late-night round. This was when Arc hit, the new collaboration between Super8 & Tab and Tritonal.
The new song between the two groups is great, a matter of fact it’s brilliant. The song builds from a basic sound and continues to add layers full of melodic greatness. It was fun to see live and I hope that these two teams can continue to work together. Check out “Arc” below as well as pretty cool Trancestep remix by Seven Lions of a Paul van Dyk tune.
